When my boyfriend bought this I thought it was only a ticket to climb Giotto Bell Tower. But actually, you can see a bunch of other sections of the Florence Cathedral! My favorites were the museum and the ancient Basilica of Santa Reparata - seeing all those years of history was kind of overpowering, especially in the crypt. It’s just soooo old.
These Giotto’s Bell Tower tickets are fantastic. We saw the bell tower, the baptistery, the museum… there are really so many different attractions, and you can easily spend an hour or more in each one. Interesting facts about Giotto’s Bell Tower
- The bell tower’s architect, Giotto di Bondone, was 67 years old when he succeeded the cathedral’s previous principal architect, Arnolfo di Cambio.
- During his lifetime, Giotto di Bondone only saw one part of the bell tower finished: the lower floor with its marble external revetment.
- Today, Giotto di Bondone is considered one of the founders of Italian Renaissance architecture.
