The most beautiful cathedral I have ever visited
My family and I enjoyed visiting the Duomo Cathedral so much! We could visit everything over three days with these Brunelleschi's Dome tickets, which was great for taking our time. I particularly enjoyed how the stained glass window inside the Cathedral filled the space with colors. The climb to the top of the dome was also worth it. The views from the top were soo gorgeous, and the frescoes on the dome’s interior were just as stunning. I definitely recommend visiting Duomo if you find yourself in Florence.

The Florence Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, or the Duomo Cathedral, was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio in 1296, and it took around 140 years to complete. One of the most well-known parts of the cathedral is “The Last Judgment" fresco, painted by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari. IT TOOK OVER 140 YEARS TO COMPLETE THE CATHEDRAL OF SANTA MARIA DEL FIORE
A plan to build a grand cathedral came to life in 1293, but it included a domed roof without any technology to build it. The construction started anyway, but a part of the rooftop remained exposed for years until Brunelleschi took over and completed the project about 140 years later.
BRUNELLESCHI WAS SECRETIVE
Even though many architects and designers could have learned much from Brunelleschi, he left no detailed plans behind. Not one of his drawings, letters, or designs was ever found.
THE CATHEDRAL OF SANTA MARIA DEL FIORE’S FAÇADE WAS COMPLETED IN 1887
Even though it is one of the most recognizable features, the cathedral’s façade was only completed about 130 years ago. It was initially designed by Arnolfo di Cambio in 1294 but wasn’t finished until the 19th century by Emilio De Fabris.
THE CATHEDRAL OF SANTA MARIA DEL FIORE WAS ONCE THE LARGEST CHURCH IN EUROPE
